Alexandria University President Dr. Essam El Kurdi and vice-president Dr. Hisham Gaber honored the students who won the prizes of the contest "Start by yourself". The contest was organized by the University in collaboration with the Administrative Control Authority under supervision of the Minister of Higher Education. The event will be held on 26/4/2018 in the conferences hall in the Faculty of Nursing.


Alexandria University is participating in the activities of Egyptian Universities the first Youth Week for persons with disabilities. The event was launched on Friday evening organized by Minia University under auspices of President Abdel Fattah Al- Sisi and the supervision of Dr. Khaled Atef Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. 2,000 students and professors with disabilities from the Egyptian universities are involved.
Dr. Essam Kurdish President of Alexandria University said that AU is keen to take care of the students with disabilities can and provide them the necessary care and to make use of their energies and special abilities and work to engage them in various activities and events as a recognition of their rights in society. This came in line with the invitation of the President of the Republic that 2018 year to be year of disabled person.
   Dr. Hisham Gaber, AU Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, said that the university is participating with a mission of 55 students, in addition to administrative supervision. The participants are involved in various sports, social, artistic, scientific, cultural and mobile activities. In these competitions .

Alexandria University President Dr. Essam El Kurdi stated AU appreciation to on Eng. Ibrahim Mehleb, the Presidential Assistant for the National and Strategic Projects for his distinguished contributions and all efforts in the service of the country and citizens since he was Manager of Arab Contractors Company then Minister of Housing then Prim Minister.

This came during held on Wednesday 21st of February 2017 within university celebration of the diamond jubilee and included a presentation on the national mega projects and achievements in various fields in Egypt. The meeting was attended by Alexandria Governor Dr. Mohamed Sultan, Major Amir Sayed Ahmed the Presidential Advisor, Major Ali Eshmawy Amr Shobokshy; Commander of the Northern Area, Dr. Hossam Moghazy the former Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Said Abdel Aziz the former Governor of El Sharkia and a group AU former Rectors and deans.

The university President also thanked the Commander of the Northern Area and the national leaders who participated in the meeting and presented the projects implemented by the military forces in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering since 2014 till now especially the project of Bashaier El Khir and Mahmoudia road development.   

Eng. Mehleb represented the national projects that were implemented in Egypt that aims to achieve economic balance and social justice according to the strategy set by the President Abdel Fattah El Sisi with highest quality and lowest price in a very short time.

He also discussed the challenges that are facing Egypt since 2013 and the governmental plan to face these challenges with more projects that shall contribute in the economic growth such as the national road network of 7000 Km with a cost of 84 billion EGP to connect all the Egyptian cities in addition to Suez Canal Axis development project, fisheries, logistics areas and new cities.

At the end of the meeting, Eng Mehleb stated that there is development in all the Egyptian land that provides a message to the youth who should continue building and save these achievements.

The President of Alexandria University Dr. Essam El Kurdi issued a decree to renew the appointment Dr. Gaber Abdel Hady Salem as Deputy of the Faculty of Law for Graduate Studies for three years starting from 10/2/2018.


Dr. Mohamed Sultan, the Governor of Alexandria and Dr. Essam El Kordy the President of Alexandria University opened the recent renovations in Smoha Emergency Hospital.

The event was attended by Dr. Ahmed Osman Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and a lot of armed forces leaders and administrative control, Parliament representatives, university deputies and deans of the faculties.

Dr. Ahmed Othman said that the renovations include the center of brain catheter and super computer, which is equipped with the latest medical and accounting equipment with a cost of 10 million EGP that should achieve a qualitative breakthrough in research on cerebrovascular diseases. The new unit was funded by contribution from the civil society in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and aims to reduce the mortality rate and rates of physical disability.

Dr. Othman added that the opening also included intensive care unit for heart diseases and after catheter cases and contains 4 beds with a cost of 2 million EGP and will be increased to 16 beds. He added that the internal section contains 10 rooms that can receive 20 patients and equipped with a gas network. He also presented the available capacities in the specialized clinics and treatment units in Smouha Specialized Hospital for Children and the cases that were treated in 2017, while the total donations were about 4 million EGP.
